Dear Louise,

Whenever I start using affirmations, bad things start happening instead. I know you touched on this in your book -- how you'll affirm prosperity, then lose your wallet. Please expound on this as soon as possible, as I am getting discouraged.
Thank you so much.
B.C., San Diego, CA

Dear B.C.,

I see this as a positive sign. It is a starting point on your pathway toward clearing the past. Many of us have so many negative messages in our subconscious minds that when we begin a program of positive self-improvement, we really stir up the pot and all sorts of negative stuff comes to the surface. I remember in my early days, that every time I did positive affirmations, I would hurt my body. This came from my old message of believing that I deserved all the beatings I received as a child.
You will go beyond this period. Be very aware that this is just old stuff surfacing, and it cannot hurt you. Look at this in a positive way, and say to yourself: THIS IS ONLY OLD JUNK COMING TO THE SURFACE; I AM CLEARING IT, AND I AM SAFE. Also, give yourself a month of constantly forgiving everybody in your past. You might want to affirm: I FORGIVE YOU AND I SET YOU FREE. Remember, you deserve to be happy and free!

Dear Louise,

There is a man I know who passed on after a liver transplant. I helped him through the use of visualizations and affirmations, and I was sure he was going to live after his operation. I was very close to him, and I was wondering if you had some insight as to why he passed on and what I could have done as a healer to assist his health.
J.V., San Jose, CA

Dear J.V.,

Sometimes our job as a healer is to help someone cross over in a more comfortable way. Please do not buy into the concept that death is a punishment or a failure. Your insistence that this man live longer may not have been in agreement with his soul's choice.
I believe that human beings come to this planet with a particular agenda in mind, with certain lessons that they and their souls have agreed upon. I believe that we live many, many different lifetimes, and each lifetime has its own unique experiences. Sometimes we live very long lives, and sometimes we scarcely make it through the birth canal. When our particular lessons are over, then we leave.
Please stop berating yourself for not being a good enough healer. What you did for him was perfect. His need to "live" had left through his "liver." Now, surround this man with love, and affirm for him that HE IS COMFORTABLE AND HAPPY WHEREVER HE IS AND FREE TO MOVE TO HIS NEXT EXPERIENCE.

Dear Louise,

I am a woman who has been experiencing a problem with hair loss for a number of years, and it has become an obstacle in my life that depresses me and consumes a lot of my thoughts. I have tried so many avenues to overcome this, from visualization and affirmation to diet and herbs. However, I feel stumped.
Do you have any thoughts to share with me? How can I let go of the fear or whatever "it" is that may be blocking or affecting my normal hair growth?
A.D., Reno, Nevada

Dear A.D.,

As you read this, take a deep breath and allow your scalp to relax. If you feel your scalp letting go, then you can be certain that you hold a great deal of tension there. The hair shaft grows through the follicle, and if there is a lot of tension in the scalp, then the hair shaft is literally strangled and the hair falls over and dies. If the tension continues, then the hair has no place to grow through, and we find baldness occurring. I have often found that those experiencing hair loss are usually tense or frightened people.
I would suggest that you consciously relax your scalp at least a dozen times a day. Bless your hair with love, and visualize the hairs having an open field in which to grow abundantly. A good affirmation would be: I AM RELAXED AND AT PEACE, AND ALL MY BODILY FUNCTIONS ARE NORMAL AND NATURAL.
