Meditation Holds the Key

The Mayans called it the Zuvuya . . . and no matter what name you know it by,
the universal Energy is real, accessible.

The Mayans recognized a cosmic wave of energy that both defines and connects us all. They called it the Zuvuya. In his book, Surfers of the Zuvuya, José Argüelles explores this ancient Mayan teaching and calls on us all to reconnect with the universal energy of the Zuvuya . . . to catch a wave and ride it!

Recognizing Our Own "Surfing" Sensation

Whatever we call it, we've all felt a synchronicity or harmony running through our lives at some point, even if just for a little while.

Maybe you call it "good luck" or "good fortune." Perhaps "serendipity" or "coincidence" comes to mind. Or maybe "in the groove" or "riding high" is more your verbal style. Everything just seemed to work; life felt abundant. This is the power of the Zuvuya! This is the sensation of "surfing" the wave of universal energy. Although we may not have recognized it for what it was, we've seen its results in our families, our business and social groups, our friendships and in our intimate relationships.

We've all surfed the wave. Unfortunately, most of us have also wiped out.

The Zuvuya is Real

How the Mayans knew about the Zuvuya remains a mystery. That the Zuvuya actually exists is now confirmed.

The Zuvuya is not mythical; it's real energy. It's just as real as light -- just as physically measurable and just as accessible. As a result of a dramatic breakthrough in our understanding of universal energy, we now know that the Zuvuya is the cascading spring of Eternal energy that creates everything as its derivative. It's the Source of what we call consciousness, which then, according to Arguelles, cascades downward to light, then to matter, then to sound, and finally to emotion. There it reconnects and becomes one with the Source. Everything we can perceive is both part of and descendant from the Zuvuya.

Connecting with the Zuvuya

Since this cosmic energy creates us, we are of it. However, as the Zuvuya cascades from the One source, very different harmonies are created. Consider how a single beam of light passing through a prism separates into a myriad of rainbow colors. In much the same way, each of us resonates at a precise frequency that is a derivative of the One. Our unique resonant frequency defines the way we think, feel and behave. As a result, each of us shows up in the world as a distinctly different individual.

Each of us also intuitively seeks to merge with one of the cascading energy frequencies. That one frequency is our personal Source energy. It sustains us. It's the frequency that allows us more than just survival. It's energizing and revitalizing. When we resonate with our Source frequency, we feel universally connected and life becomes glorious, serendipitous and synchronous. We become surfers of the Zuvuya as we ride our personal wave.

Finding Our Personal "Wave"

The whole of the Zuvuya awaits each of us in inner space. We don't need to create our wave; we must merely find it. That requires detaching from the "interference" of the outer world, looking within, and accessing the abundant universal energy that flows freely and resonates within our bodies.

Meditation is the key that unlocks our inner space. And yet, just as each of us has a unique personal energy frequency, each of us benefits more from one form or method of meditation than another. For some, it's breath work, for others it's movement. Still others unlock through chanting or visualization or other means. Our challenge is to find the method that most readily frees our receiving channels and opens our access to our Source energy.

What's more, the method of meditation that's most effective for each of us when we're stressed isn't the same as our usual routine. Likewise, once our resonance energy system is connected with the Zuvuya, we must be prepared to change our meditation style again. This is because our personal energy actually shifts under different forms of stress, and then shifts again as we get in touch with our Source energy. Like a living battery, we feel energized. We feel the powerful surge of the wave in every aspect of our lives.

The trick is to stay connected to the Source energy long enough to get fully recharged. The more proficient we become at doing that, the less time it takes to recharge. Eventually, as we become one with our Source energy, we're able to stay connected as we ride the roll of our wave.

Learning from Our Wipeouts

No one learns to surf the ocean waves without wiping out -- a lot. The same is true of the Zuvuya. The first task for each of us is to learn to recognize the swell of our personal wave. After that, we need merely increase our skill and agility in getting back up on it and in becoming one with it. That's an exercise in experiential learning. As budding surfers, we can expect to lose our balance now and then. And yet, the thrill of riding that crest of energy in total universal harmony will forever draw us to get back on again . . . and again . . . and again. Through meditation and practice, we become true surfers of the Zuvuya, riding high on our personal wave of Source energy.
