"The Visible Soul: Revealing the Spiritual"
Exhibition at The School of The Art Institute

An exhibition exploring how current students and regional alumni of African descent continue to deal with the spiritual in their work opened February 7 and runs through March 21 at the School of the Art Institute Gallery 2, 847 West Jackson Boulevard, Chicago. The exhibition was developed by the Africanamerican Cultural Outreach Coalition, a collective of African-American faculty and staff at the School of the Art Institute.

Established in 1994, the Coalition is dedicated to furthering the education of African-American students and Chicago youth through a series of public programs aimed at increasing the awareness and appreciation of African-American artists and culture. Through the organization of seminars, public programs and exhibitions at the School and venues throughout the Chicago area, the Coalition seeks to build bridges between the School of the Art Institute and the greater Chicago community.

Gallery 2 is an off-campus site offering extensive programming in all of the visual arts. Its focus is the innovative and experimental work of the School's most advanced undergraduate and graduate students through exhibitions, performances, and video and film screenings.

The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission to the exhibition is free. For more information, call (312) 563-5162 or (312) 443-3703.

A Village Square? No, the New Whole Foods Market!

For fun and good shopping, the new 40,000 square foot Whole Foods Market that recently opened its doors in Wheaton has a contemporary design reminiscent of a village square market. This exciting new store is the ninth of their stores to open in the Midwest.

The new Wheaton store features organically-grown foods (the produce department supports local and sustainable agricultural practices), naturally-raised meats, bulk bins filled with pantry staples like grains, beans, cereals, flour; an entire line of environmentally-friendly home care products; a coffee and juice bar; full service deli; imported cheeses; hearth baked breads, elegant pastries; and a large beer and wine selection.

The nutrition department features the largest and most extensive selection of vitamins, minerals, herbs, homeopathic remedies and bodycare products of any store in the company.

You'll find the new village square Whole Foods Market at 151 Rice Lake Square, Wheaton, Illinois.

Gallery E.G.G. (Earth Goddess Group) Plans Three-Day Event

Gallery E.G.G. (Earth Goddess Group), Chicago's only non-for-profit, tax-exempt environmental and spiritual art gallery, announces the opening of an exhibit of prints and paintings by Amy Falstrom of Indianapolis and sculptures by Bill Boyce of Chicago, on Friday, March 7, from 6 to 9 p.m. through Sunday, April 13. All events held at Gallery E.G.G. are free and open to the public.

On Sunday, March 16, Bill Boyce will present A Sculpture Talk and tour of his studio in the Rogers Park area, at 2 p.m.. Donations for this are $3 for gallery members and $5 for non-members.

Their new location is on the second floor at 1474 W. Hubbard Street (near the intersection of Ashland and Grand), Chicago. For more information about exhibits and exhibitors, please call Analisa Leppanen at (312) 666-0553.
