Make Time Work in Your Favorby Doreen Virtue, Ph.D.
Working against the clock? Discover a universal law that allows time to work for you.
When we believe it takes a long time to get a new career, a different house or a better relationship, it does take a long time. But when we believe it's possible for changes to instantly occur, then they do! The nice thing about your dreams is that, since you are the dreamer, you get to decide on all the details and rules. You can even pinpoint how long your dreams will take to manifest into tangible form. I've always rejected conventional notions about how much time goals are "supposed" to take. I guess I don't like rules that much. I've had people tell me how much time things would take, and instead of believing them, I vow to prove their time rules wrong. For example, a college professor told my first-year psychology class that we'd have to wait until we received advanced degrees before we could work in the field. I got a counseling job at a major psychiatric hospital four months later. Another college professor, upon hearing my goal to become published, said I couldn't write a book until I'd received my doctorate. My first book was published several years before I became a Ph.D. These are just a few examples, albeit defiant examples, of how I've refused to abide by traditional measures of time. Many of my friends and clients who share my convictions tell similar stories of rapid manifestations. The bottom line is this: Whatever you believe about time -- that you have plenty, or that you don't have enough -- you are correct! There are no limits to the changes you can make in your life, and there are no time shortages except those that are self-imposed. Everything in our life is a projection of our thoughts, like images beaming out from a film projector. Change your thoughts, and you've essentially changed the film in the projector. Conversely, the image that shines out also changes. As A Course in Miracles says, "All appearances can change because they are appearances." If you are feeling squeezed for time, it's important to search for fearful or negative thoughts such as, "I never have enough time," or "I'm always rushed." These thoughts create anxiety and drain our energy and creativity. Affirm often, "I have plenty of time," and "Everything is in Divine order." Notice how these affirmations actually slow your racing pulse, and how they help you think more clearly about the tasks at hand. If you want to make a rapid change in any area of your life, you also have a great deal of spiritual support available. Our angels and guides are thrilled when we ask for their help! The spiritual principles and laws that create fast manifestations apply equally to every single person -- no exceptions. Spiritual laws never discriminate against anyone, never bar anyone from usage. It's like electrical power -- no matter who you are, if you flip on a switch, the lights always go on. Electricity doesn't care who turns it on; it merely obeys commands. Spiritual principles are no different. Trust that they will work for you, because trust is a necessary component of making them work. When we remember that this is a benevolent universe that wants us to be happy and successful, we lose the fear of asking Spirit to help us change our life today. We needn't worry that it's "spiritually incorrect" to ask that our dreams be delivered without delay. After asking for a rush order, rest with peace and gratitude in your heart. Know that God and your angels are rapidly working behind the scenes to deliver all of your physical, emotional, and spiritual supplies without delay.
