The prophecies imparted to Dannion Brinkley during his first two near death experiences weren't repeated in his third NDE. The truths about the totality of human beings, however, and the powerful energies available in prayers that saved his life have made a dramatic impact on him. The result? An unshakable understanding of what it will mean to be a member of a new, spiritual race during the prophesied times to come.
The Monthly Aspectarian: Dannion! I understand we almost lost you again a year or so ago.
Dannion Brinkley: Well Guy, I was flying in a plane, and about the time we hit 35,000 feet, I blew a subdural hemotoma which is a blood vessel exploding in your brain. By the time I reached the hospital, I had blown another one. The odds of living through it were pretty slim. I'd been through two near death experiences September 17, 1975 at 7:05PM, wham! I was struck by lightning during a thunderstorm; and in 1989 I collapsed and had to have open heart surgery because of complications from that. And then in 1997 I was scheduled for brain surgery in South Carolina get the date September the 17th at 7:05AM.
TMA: Seems to be some synchronicity at work here.
DB: I believe [my guides] sometimes use me for things I don't understand. Twelve minutes before going into the surgery they decided to just try to patch me up because they figured cracking my skull and going into my heart [to control for blood clots] would kill me. So they just drilled the hole. And then I had my third near death experience. I've had three of these puppies now.
TMA: What can you tell us about this latest near death experience?
DB: For once in my life I had a normal one. The first two were cosmic. I traveled through regions and dimensions and great cities of light and great understandings of things and there was so much awesome spiritual power pouring into me and pouring out from me. Well, this one was about Dannion Brinkley facing death one more time. I turned 47 years old and I was finished.
I lifted out of my body and instead of floating above it, I moved next to it. I stood beside my physical body and I was watching and listening to their conversation. I was standing next to the assistant who was helping the neurosurgeon. I remember looking over my right shoulder before I turned around. When they started the second hole, I heard the whirr and then light chimes, you know, the tones, then I moved down the tunnel and I came into the place of beautiful light.
TMA: That's the way most people describe the experience.
DB: Then I had a panoramic life review. I got to see the differences I had made. It was pretty awesome to see that little things in life were the biggest events and that I lived my life thinking how to plan to help somebody and how to go out and achieve it.
I think that was the most wondrous part about this experience. Other than this: people began to pray for me, Art Bell, who has always been supportive, and a lot of people on radio and television shows all over the country were hearing about what I was going through and asking others to pray for me. There was a website that had about two and a half to five million people a day to log on worldwide; Art Bell with 16 to 20 million listeners . . . and then little churches; and people asking people to pray who didn't know me.
I'm still working on the language to describe to people that their love for me saved my life. There was no way I could have survived it except that the people who prayed for me. Wherever they were, whatever truck they were in, whatever room they were working in, whatever cargo they were loading because it was all nights and a lot of days, they made the difference. They saved my life.
I think this is one of the most marvelous discoveries in your life the fact that without any question, you do not die. It does not happen. You move from this world to another world and you go through a process that is merging yourself with your true spiritual self.
I concluded from this experience that our total being does not exist in the framework that we're existing in right here. We are greater than that. We're divided into dimensions. We are light beings that must condense like a laser does. We must merge our beings into a being that becomes physically conscious. I explored this.
You have a physical body, then you have an ethereal body that houses the emotions, then you have a mental self and then you have your true spiritual self. The whole of you that's the Oneness on the Other Side.
The physical body attaches to the mental self like a circle and it creates our preservation or gratification. The body has a conscious mind of its own and the brain has a conscious existence itself that's more advanced, but the two together develop the ego. The ethereal self or the light body or the six light bodies or the auric energy, combine in a circle with your true united spiritual self which creates a circle of emotions like the figure eight, like the sign of infinity.
When you die, whatever is occupied in the physical passes to the ethereal. From the ethereal it passes to the mental and then the ethereal and mental and the conscious life moves through a panoramic life review to merge with our true spiritual self. I don't understand all that Eastern religion stuff that talks about that, but when I died in South Carolina, I got a good grip on it.
After the panoramic life review, I didn't go anywhere. I hovered, not in the room where I was, but it was a hovering, and I pondered my life and who I am and what I've learned and how much love there is in this world. The lunacy of war. The horror of watch how funny this is the horror of how we eat! I never thought about the system by which you bring foods to the counter. Agro-conglomerates and no-waste farming, hogs, chickens, pigs, beef I never ever conceived of wondering how horrendous, murderous and torturous
these systems are. And how we treat animals in scientific investigations.
TMA: Have you become a vegetarian?
DB: I'm working on it. I've created a moral dilemma. I can't fight something that I'm contributing to. It should be a moral dilemma with all of us.
TMA: In this life review, did you have to go back and review the earlier, more difficult part that you covered in your first two near death experiences?
DB: Oh, I had to go through the earlier parts again. They never let me out of that. They're too slick They don't do that. A life review is the full experience of this existence.
TMA: You speak of the future . . . there are a lot of people right now who think we are on the edge of some really bad things.
DB: We are. Can't wait. Remember this, Guy, they gave me a choice to come back . . I chose to come back this time. This is the first time they've ever asked me or given me a choice to come back. I'm back here for two reasons. Reason number one: I never knew I had affected people's lives the way I have. I never knew people loved me the way they did when they reached out to pray and I could see and feel that prayer. I didn't know what it was, but I know the collective love of people praying can affect and save and change a person's life.
TMA: Or a world.
DB: Or a world. If you can do that, then we can begin to change the world a little at a time. And I wanted to come back to tell people thank you. Because I know it was them, the millions of people who cared and focused. Those prayers saved my life, gave me the ability to expand the dimensional nature of myself and see it in a framework that I could understand. To be able to come back from that world to tell people that not only did their prayers make a difference . . . but that if I'd have died and millions of people had prayed, then it would have been just one more thing that they poured their hearts out for and didn't get anything back. Well, I'm back here, and I'm thankful and I returned here to tell them that. I want them to know that's the power we have over here and over there.
The other thing is, I was meant to come back here. I was supposed to stay until 2004; that was what I saw twenty-two years ago.
The biggest word to describe the next six years is disruption. That word will be the buzzword of the beginning of the new millennium. Which means a lot of hard, tough times. Disruption but we need it.
TMA: Disruption is one thing, utter destruction is another.
DB: That'll never happen.
TMA: That's what some people are talking about. The sea level rising 200 feet and losing all technology and . . .
DB: The world will change rapidly but remember, you chose to come here and you were chosen to come here and you came prepared. You knew the potentiality of the game before you came. We are the great fighters. We have come to herald and guardian the initiation of a new order. A spiritual order.
And we will have to fight technology control, the chip implant, the Y2K problem. This will come about but only in systems of disruption. We will have solar flares that will affect grids for the next three years, that will shut down power companies, blow out pagers, cell phones . . . all that stuff's going to happen. Those who seek to control will declare martial law, probably suspend the Constitution. Begin to take over because of these natural calamities as well as improper planning on their part.
But what we're doing here is we will nurture an emergence of a new race of people. Some of us are already part of that. But the children who are coming here, children between the ages of seven and fourteen or fifteen, they'll see it all. Look at Generation X's. People of say, twenty-six and under they see the game. They see what we've bought into and they're sifting it and looking at it. We will nurture this next millennium in and it will be as wonderfully magnificent and beautifully unfolding and as catastrophic as almost anyone can imagine but remember, it's just a transition. I wouldn't miss it!
TMA: One thing before we wrap this up the acronym for Compassion in Action, CIA, made me laugh when I first heard it.
DB: That's me gittin' `em back. [laughter] You know, they say I never existed. I spent about twenty years doing something [in that organization] in various degrees, and yet I don't exist.
TMA: We wouldn't expect them to acknowledge you, really.
DB: It's horrible, the way we fought in covert and proxy wars, and clandestine actions. But what I did, I created the CIA, Compassion in Action, The Twilight Brigade. The Quiet Army. It's a metaphor about who I was and who I am. Compassion In Action is one of the primary caregivers for the Veterans Administration. And now we're training hospice volunteers to be with dying veterans. I think that is really funny . . . that who is really protecting this country is us, Compassion In Action.
TMA: How can people get involved in what you're doing?
DB: Compassion In Action is using as a basis the occurrences in the near death experience. And we're training hospice volunteers. It's also a way to build an organization of friends. We are losing our moms and dads. We are losing friends of ours. Look at the veterans. Because I'm a volunteer in V.A., I know that 31,000 World War Two veterans die every month. 31,000 veterans will go from this world to the next world, and a lot of them are by themselves. What Compassion In Action does as a totally non-profit foundation, is recruit volunteers and train them to be with the dying veterans. It creates a perspective of looking at war so we'll never fight another one.
Because of Saving Private Ryan, the movie by Steven Speilberg they had to set up a hotline for veterans who are having flashbacks and the pain and misery and horror that no one wanted to talk about. Well, you go and you sit with a veteran and you hear his stories and you see Private Ryan, which I recommend for everybody, then you'll never fight another war. And no one will conquer us and control us.
I believe without any question and I'm not a conspiriologist that there are control groups of people who work with each other to manifest a very physical, material world. They just want to make money and rule over, dominate, people. I think there's also we who will bring out the great spiritual nature of ourselves and who will overcome all adversity . . . and that we will, by being with those who are leaving this world, we will understand the whole new way to rule and live in search for ourselves. CIA is an organization that trains hospice volunteers, a common community of people who are dealing with life and death . . . which is how you find your value. The panoramic life reviews being used as a tool to help people make the transition from this world to the next. We teach a breathing technique to understand how to access higher levels of your spiritual self.
By true service in a volunteer position, you set in motion [a way] where you can watch the new managed care system really at work. You will become an expert not only in the quality of care and the assurance of care but a guardian responsible for it and who has a vote and they can't fire you, because you are a volunteer.
You know, Guy, they [on the Other Side] trained me well. If I'm going to structure something, I'm going to structure it with all my heart.
Let me say something about Oprah Winfrey here, and Art Bell they do such great work and look at people like Judith Orloff, Caroline Myss, Franklin Smith . . . these are all people who are professionals in the fields of therapy. But I take it that one step further into spirituality. Judith Orloff is a psychic psychologist, proud to be it; Caroline Myss is a therapist who developed spiritual profiles for seeing who you are; Franklin Smith is a therapist who uses guided imagery in a program structured to study the inner workings of the spiritual self to help deal with life every day. These guided imageries are truly impactful; they truly work. Larry Dossey, Andrew Weil these people have gone from prayer to healing to the spiritual life.
Look at people like Oprah . . . she's not only willing and courageous enough to open up herself to show the whole world who she is, but who does everything in her power in her movies, in her television shows, to bring spiritual consciousness to everyday life. That's very important.
TMA: She is using the media in the responsible way that I believe it can and should be used.
DB: I'm very proud of it. I'm very proud of a lot of people who help who are in the movie and television industry. I'm very thankful to News Corp, which is Fox Television and the Fox Entertainment Division, as well as newspapers and periodicals around the world. They are very, very supportive of me. I'm thankful to both Paramount Studios and Paramount Television. They've helped me a lot. They've helped CIA. They have volunteers and they add their expertise and I'm really proud of that. These are the kinds of people that in a tough business, which everyone says is really dog-eat-dog, have hearts and souls; they're contributing their time and their money.
TMA: And the media resources, because it really is about affecting mass consciousness.
DB: I also want to thank and praise The Monthly Aspectarian. I love to read "our" stuff! I love to read what we write, what we say.
I'd like to tell everybody in Chicago that I love them very, very much and that I look forward to coming to the Windy City. What I plan to talk about is the near death experience but it's more now, after the third one of these. It's just a part of our overall life. What I want to talk about is the next seven years, what will occur, what to do about it, and how to design a life to navigate it.
