My Current Opinion	The Triumph of the Age by Guy Spiro

The loss of our connection to nature can easily be seen with a look at the environmental damage that has occurred. The seemingly unending warfare has coarsened the spirit and numbed humanity to the cruelty and suffering that has occurred and continues in our time. The theme of surrender resulted in the negation of the Self and resulted in a kind of a spiritual death wish. When viewed through such a lens, it seems no small miracle that humanity has survived at all.

But the fact is, a very major test has been passed. A few short years after its passing it has all but been forgotten, but the specter of nuclear annihilation was a dominant thought form. For several decades, you knew that the end could come at any moment. To think of the destruction that a nuclear war between the U.S. and the Soviet Union would have caused to humanity and the planet is almost too much to contemplate. Yet the idea that one side or the other would eventually push the button was almost taken for granted. The test was whether humanity would fall prey to this horror or would rise up and reject it.

As we move further into Aquarius, its theme of self responsibility comes more into play and becomes increasingly important. Mass consciousness creates and defines our world. The way to change our world is to change mass consciousness. Mass consciousness, however, is made up of the individual consciousness of each of us. What ended the cold war and its threat of nuclear destruction was the reaching of a critical mass of individual consciousness that would no longer tolerate it. As individuals awakened and cooperated with others on a global scale, the world conformed to the reality created. The Berlin Wall fell, the Soviet Union dissolved and the weapons were no longer pointed -- faster than anyone could have predicted.

This coalescing global human consciousness made up of awakening individuals is the key to humanity's survival and flourishing in the new age. Out of our awakening self responsibility, each individual cooperating with the others is a force that cannot be defeated. The global meditations that have been organized by various people and groups have produced the first victory against the darkness of the past.

We have earned the right to proceed into the next millennium and the new age. All we need do is continue to grow and to nurture the light in others. Continuing global meditations are a major key. As we come together in increasing numbers and the light becomes ever brighter, there are no problems that may not be solved. The first test has been passed and greater accomplishments await.
