I know I've written about the peace prayers at worldpuja.org a number of times in the past months. However, circumstances in Kosovo, Serbia and surrounding areas direct me to write about it once again. Two worldwide peace meditations have been held since the war began. The first, on March 27, 1999, featured Peace Troubadour and Emissary of Light author James Twyman, among others. During the second, on April 3rd, Marianne Williamson initiated a 30-day global prayer vigil for peace.

Twyman's remarks during the March 27th event were particularly illuminating. Accompanied by John Alexis, a priest from Los Angeles, he traveled to the Kosovo region two years ago. Twyman talked about the feeling that enveloped him as soon as he entered Serbian air space. It was as if a negative black glove hovered over the area, preventing positive light energy from penetrating.

Twyman explained that much of the present day problems over there are based on an incident that happened 800 years ago in a place called the Field of the Blackbirds near Pristina in Kosovo. During the Crusades, the Turks annihilated the Serbian army. It was an incident that has lived on in the Serbian collective consciousness ever since.

The result has been disastrous. In 1914, Archduke Ferdinand was assassinated in Sarajevo by a Serbian nationalist on the anniversary of the battle in the Field of the Blackbirds. In the 1980s on the 800th anniversary of the battle, Slobodan Milosevic gave a speech in that field. His message: ethnic cleansing.

Twyman pointed out that this Field of the Blackbirds is the energetic zero point for much of the hatred that has gripped the area. He had traveled to the region in order to plant a symbolic peace pole in the field. This would act as a spiritual antenna for receiving peace prayers and beneficial energy. Authorities did not allow them to erect it, so they devised a Plan B. Fr. Alexis traveled on to Kosovo and secretly planted a small six-inch peace pole in the field. Twyman went to Medjugorie where the large peace pole was erected.

Twyman urged the March 27th participants to use the peace poles as a focal point for their prayer vigil. When I pray and meditate now, I visualize those poles. First the one in Medjugorie and then the one in Kosovo. I see the light energy penetrating that black glove of hatred from above and below. I see that hatred breaking up and being transformed into beneficial energy for all in that region and in the world. This technique has helped me and I hope it helps you.
