The Body Knows -- The Gift of Medical Intuition by Caroline Sutherland When we give the body the tools it needs, it regenerates and repairs itself. Medical Intuition is the ability to see beyond the normal levels of perception into the subtle levels below, as this insight pertains to the physical body. These impressions can be received on physical, emotional or spiritual levels. Medical Intuitive ability is not the domain of a few people. It is a birthright and very necessary skill, useful to anyone. Everyone needs to know how their body functions and what is required on an individual basis to keep it healthy. Anyone can learn to be intuitive if they have the desire. Intuition comes to us moment by moment from the creator, God, the source -- the origin of all ideas, creativity and information. As soon as we tap into that source, the instincts flow. But we need to have the "framework" upon which to "hang" the instincts in order to make them useful. It is surprising that during a medical intuitive training, a person can develop "new eyes" to "see" the body from the intuitive perspective. Edgar Cayce was a very famous medical intuitive. There is a River -- the Edgar Cayce Story by Thomas Sugrue (ARE Press, 1997) documents his fascinating life and abilities. This illiterate man with no medical background practiced clairvoyant diagnosis for over 40 years. He devised all of his cures in the sleep state or a deep trance. People would come to him with all sorts of problems. Cayce would lie down, take a nap or drop into this deep altered state and let the solutions for their health problems come to him. Medical doctors were constantly impressed by Cayce's level of accuracy and his specific knowledge of physical body processes, something he apparently knew nothing about when he was awake. Belief in the person who is delivering the message and the information that is being given is a fundamental element in healing. Edgar Cayce's successes had as much to do with the belief that people had in him as the cures he dispensed. Beware of medical intuitives who "see" dark masses or see cancer or see problems and offer no practical solutions. Check their references and seek a second opinion. Such an experience can be very frightening. Remember, medical intuition or any other form of alternative therapy is never a replacement for regular medical attention. Never give your power away or abdicate your own good judgment and common sense to any intuitive. Test the accuracy and usefulness of the information being given to you with your own instincts. Assess it. If a medical intuitive is good at what he or she does and is tuning in accurately, the information will feel right to you. When you implement the suggestions, you should feel positive benefits in your health. There are many reasons why so many of us resist taking the necessary steps toward better health -- namely, the power of addictions. The power of addiction is so strong in each person that it can take a Herculean level of emotional and physical mastery to overcome them. In the total health equation, whatever a person exposes themselves to will affect body chemistry and function. Whether it is smoking, alcohol, drugs, excess sugar, caffeine or chocolate, these will ultimately have an effect on optimum health if taken to excess. The way through the addictive process is to "grow up' and leave the little child behind -- the part of us that constantly needs to be fed by the addictions. On a higher level, addictions numb the pain of experiencing life to the full -- both the valleys and depths of emotion and the higher, exalted realms. Given the fact that North Americans are the strongest and most prosperous group of people, sadly, many of us suffer from a great deal of ill health. But, thanks to complementary disciplines, this picture seems to be changing -- one body at a time. The fact that optimum health is not a complicated quest seems to have eluded many people. When some simple tools are implemented, we can experience astounding improvements in vitality. When we look collectively at health on a higher or spiritual level, the body is the "vehicle" which houses the soul and the personality, enabling it to complete a certain mission or purpose in life. The minute people get in touch with the "higher" reason for a healthy body and respect the physical vehicle, it becomes easier to implement the discipline required to preserve it. The body is very adept at making changes. All the body wants to do is to regenerate and repair. We just need to give it the tools to do so. Optimum health is not a mystery. If the right equation can be found, the body takes it from there. Often, positive changes can take place within a few weeks.
