Guyuna Cealo, a highly revered Burmese monk, speaks to the importance of love
and the downfall inherent in competition Guy Spiro: What kind of work are you doing now? What’s important to you at this time? Gayuna Cealo: I’ve been giving the message to people of how one can give love to one’s self without any attachment to the outcome. GS: How are you teaching people how to do this? GC: Everyone likes to talk about the method or technique ... how to do it and how to manifest it. However, my message is about love. Love has no method. People are attached to results and feel they must prove themselves. They are so concerned with what other people think of them. Even when they are doing the right and true thing, they are still concerned with what people think about them. Although people say that God knows everything, that they trust in God, they are so concerned with what their neighbor knows. The only thing everyone should know is that God is beyond everyone, all human beings. GS: How does one find this source of love within themselves? GC: Basically you have to know where you are, your nature, that you are originally a wonderful being. Everyone is so concerned with their reputation in the world, with finding people who can validate who they are and then trying to depend on that. We are all born on this planet. Your birth is already celebrated, your existence is already celebrated, and you have been given everything you need. So find your gift, your love, and what you’re supposed to be doing with your love in this world. That is the point that we have to recognize. Love has no form. When you think you have figured out what love is and when you stick to your conception of what you think love is, that is separation from love. Love has no face. Love has no definition. GS: How do you see us using this power in the world, to have a positive effect on it? GC: Just keep loving. The power of love is enormous. People always try to prove how big their love is and try to prove themselves. But in fact, the power of love is huge you cannot measure it. So you can try to figure out what I’m doing in the world and what method I use or what ways I’m serving people, but you cannot figure it out or duplicate it because it is unique to who I am. I often ask people, “What are you able to do right now? What can you do right now?” That is my first question to people. I would like to propose to the world that we not judge any more in any way. No more this way is the best, no more this one is good or this one is bad. I request that people not judge in any way. So all the skills and the methods that are taught actually control people, until they are not able to manage by themselves. Then they end up doing what they think is best, but actually they are not doing what is the best for themselves. GS: What would you like to say to our readers? GC: When you do the right and true thing, you don’t have to try to treat it as your duty. Without feeling a sense of duty, you just carry on with dignity. You can only be responsible for yourself. The things you are doing right now, you don’t have to think of them as your duty. You can remain neutral. When you feel that something is your duty, then you have to prove that what you are doing is right. Even if it is right, when you try to prove one thing, you must negate another. You create a consciousness of duality, and you are no longer neutral. However, if you don’t enter into that consciousness, then you don’t have to prove anything. GS: What do you think about the current state of the world? GC: People are so busy with becoming number one, and that’s a contradiction. Everyone believes that success means becoming number one, beating others. So people are so scared to be second best. I propose that each person be a completely unique person instead of fighting to become number one. Even though people are sitting on top of the world, or have been declared number one through popularity or competition, it has no point. Then all the people who are left are scared to be number two, which means they cannot keep the number one tradition anymore. I suppose people are even scared the world will become truly peaceful. Somewhere people believe that they will not have anything to do if the world becomes peaceful. Even so, there are many things you can do. Next Article |
