Preliminary Results for Great Experiment III As I write this month's column on February 14th, I am listening to the analysis of Hans Blix's report to the U.N. Security Council. Somehow the news is helping me to breathe easier. Perhaps, just perhaps, this is some of the tangible proof that the peace prayers and Great Experiment III on Sunday, February 9th is having a positive effect on the world. If you read last month's column, you'll know that I was one of the 100,000 or more people who trained to apply spoonbending energy and technology to bending the world toward peace. Our first occasion to use this energy as a group and in concert with others who prayed and meditated was on Sunday. Quite frankly, immediately following the vigil things looked pretty bleak. They still do. However, Han Blix's report and the reaction to it seem to be a tiny indication that if we keep working together in one mind, we CAN turn the tide. Even before the U.N. report, there were indications that something amazing happened last Sunday. An email message from James Twyman, one of the Great Experiment organizers revealed the following: Over 300 people gathered beneath a tent in a village called Neve Shalom between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. The group began praying and chanting for two hours prior to 11am Central time when the official peace prayer event was to begin. Twyman states: “We know that there were millions of people from around the world joining us, in addition to the 100,000 ‘Spiritual Peacemakers’ who have been studying together through the Spoonbenders Course … When 7:00pm (Israeli time) arrived, we could sense an amazing energy begin to fall all around us. Most people began to cry or enter ecstatic states, for we knew we were grounding the prayers of peace of so many dedicated souls. We chanted the prayers we shared in the Course, and the energy grew so high that I wasn't sure I would be able to continue. Of all the vigils I have been part of, this was by far the most incredible. (At times it was hard to remain conscious.) I KNOW that the effect was felt around the world. We can already feel and notice the change in this area. Many Muslims and Jews heard about our mission and wanted to send their thanks to us all. Our lives will never be the same.” The Great Experiment III people have hired several statisticians to gather quantitative information to help prove the power and impact of the vigil. Most of the results will take a week or two to gather and share. However, there were some indicators gathered at the Israeli location that indicate that something amazing was happening. The Twyman email states: “Attending the gathering was a scientist named Richard Benishal who was taking readings on what is called a Biometer. It measures the vitality or life-force of a person or place through a measurement called Angstroms. Angstroms are units of light which all living beings and physical places emit. If there is disease or low energy, it registers a low reading, with the opposite for high energy. He shared with me that a neutral reading would normally be around 6500 angstroms, but that he has seen readings as high as 7000 after powerful meditations have taken place in a certain area. Then he told me something that amazed us all. The reading of the area of the vigil's focus was between 9000 and 9500. Richard said he has never seen such a high reading before. ”The prayer vigils will continue to be organized. One key to participation is knowing that peace exists in the world. One helpful image from the Spoonbenders Course is that of a seed. Know that the seed of peace exists in the world and that what you're doing with your prayers and mediations, etc. is helping it grow and flourish. Another stress is that this is not an anti-war effort but a pro-peace endeavor. Twyman shares this quote from Mother Teresa: “I was once asked why I don't participate in anti-war demonstrations. I said that I will never do that, but as soon as you have a pro-peace rally, I'll be there.” If you’re interested in finding out more about the course, go to www.emissaryoflight.com and click on the link at the top of the page. Peace and a Bag of Rice Here’s another pro-peace effort that is blossoming over the Internet. It's called Rice for Peace and is being organized by the Rocky Mountain Peace and Justice Center (RMPJC) through a section on their web site (www.rmpjc.org/RiceForPeace). The message of this section is: “In the 1950s, tens of thousands of people sent small bags of grain to President Eisenhower to encourage him to send food to then-enemy China during a famine. The existence of the campaign helped dissuade Eisenhower from attacking China during two international confrontations. Now a nationwide effort has been launched to send a similar message to President Bush about Iraq: If we are going to send something to Iraq it should be food, not bombs.” The directions are as follows: Send a half-cup of uncooked rice in a plastic bag and padded envelope with the message "Rice for Peace - No War On Iraq" on the outside of the package. Mail it to: President George Bush, The White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Washington DC 20500. Then go to the Rice for Peace web page and email them your city and state so they can count your message for peace. Important note: This campaign has become very popular. However, some of the envelopes have broken open in the post office, scaring postal workers. So, the organizers stress that the rice MUST be packaged in padded envelope or box. The RMPJC folks state: “It is absolutely not our intention to create a problem for the postal service or to put U.S. postal workers in a position of having to worry about their personal safety. Rice should be in a "burped" plastic bag (no extra air) and placed inside a padded envelope or box. It is also important that people LABEL the outside of the package with "Rice For Peace - No War On Iraq" (or any other concise message which identifies the contents and purpose of the package) … Please include your correct return address on the package.” Mary Montgomery-Clifford is a certified web author and developer.
