Radio for Your Soul

In my June, 2004, column in The Monthly Aspectarian, I talked at length about the new genre of spiritual cinema that was being launched at that time (“Spiritual Cinema: Join the Circle”). One of the focal points of this film category is the Spiritual Cinema Circle (www.spiritualcinemacircle.com), a DVD of the month club from which subscribers receive three to five features and shorts representing the best of spiritual cinema and art. One of the bonuses are emails from producer Stephen Simon, founder of Spiritual Cinema Circle (SCC), that update members about local meetings, national happening, etc.—in other words, the latest news about this budding genre.

My most recent email from SCC contained an announcement about the March 11th launch of “Spiritual Cinema,” a weekly one-hour Internet radio show hosted by Stephen Simon and SCC co-founder Gay Hendricks.

The show, which airs each Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. (PST) at www.hayhouseradio.com, features “live” interviews with actors, directors, screenwriters, and transformational luminaries who are making movies for the heart and soul. Discussions, like that on March 11th with Mark Vicente (director of What the Bleep) and the March 18th with Kenny Loggins, revolve around the movies that have changed their lives. Additionally, there are recommendations about new movies that are coming out in the theaters or on DVD ... movies that entertain, inspire and remind us all that the force really is with us.

I logged onto the HayHouseRadio site and discovered not only this wonderful show, but a myriad of others that live up to the Hay House Radio slogan, “Radio for your soul.” The lineup includes shows like “The Power of Intention” with Dr. Wayne Dyer, “Coach On Call” with Cheryl Richardson, “Spirit Connections” with John Holland, “Flowdreaming” with Summer McStravick, “Overcoming Fear and Self-Doubt” with Wyatt Webb, “Trust Your Vibes: Awakening Your Sixth Sense to Master Your Life” with Sonia Choquette, “Spirit-Centered Relationships” with Dr. Gay Hendricks and Dr. Kathlyn Hendricks, “The Healing Zone” with Dharma Singh Khalsa, M.D., “Angel Therapy” with Dr. Doreen Virtue, and “Zestful Living” with Dawn Breslin.

The “Show Hosts” section provides profiles that give you a glimpse of each host’s expertise. For example, Coach On Call’s Cheryl Richardson is the author of the New York Times bestselling books Take Time for Your Life, Life Makeovers, and Stand Up for Your Life and was the first president of the International Coach Federation. The Healing Zone’s Dharma Singh Khalsa, M.D., regarded as the number one brain longevity expert, graduated from Creighton University School of Medicine and trained at the University of California at San Francisco School of Medicine, Harvard Medical School, and UCLA School of Medicine.

Listeners can also sign up to receive the HayHouseRadio online newsletter. The newsletter allows you to stay informed of what’s going on with your favorite authors, shows, and programming. You’ll also receive monthly announcements about favorite shows, discounts and offers, special events, product highlights, free excerpts, and more.

An important feature of the site is the “Listen Again” section, where shows are archived. In my opinion, that is radio that is soothing for the soul. Instead of stressing out trying to find the time to listen to a particular selection, you can sign up and log into the archives and listen to shows at times that are convenient for you—and your soul.

The HayHouseRadio site is definitely worth including in your regular Internet diet.

P.S.: Listeners to Spiritual Cinema are invited to call in and talk live to Stephen, Gay, and their guests! In the U.S., dial 888-327-0061. From outside the U.S., dial the international country code, then 858-623-0102.
