Dr. Eric Pearl ran a highly successful chiropractic practice for twelve years until one day in 1993 when patients began reporting that they felt his hands on themeven though he hadn’t physically touched them. His patients soon began seeing angels and reporting miraculous healings from cancers, AIDS-related diseases, birth disfigurements, cerebral palsy, and other serious afflictions. This occurred when Eric simply held his hands near them, and continues to this day. Eric Pearl has appeared on numerous television programs worldwide, presented to a full house at Madison Square Garden, and his seminars have been featured in publications including the New York Times and Los Angeles Magazine. Guy Spiro: Eric, I usually like to start by letting people tell their story. How did all of this start for you? Eric Pearl: I ended a relationship that I thought was going to be the relationship of my life. You know that expression, that you had difficulty putting one foot in front of the other? I discovered that it’s not an expressionI physically, from the trauma of it, had difficulty putting one foot in front of the other, just to walk from patient to patient in my office. Simultaneously, there were some difficulties going on with my staff that I just couldn’t put my finger on, and with the relationship breakup, I really didn’t have the focus to work to the best of my abilities at that point. So, and trust me, you haven’t lived until you’ve done this, I let everyone go at once. GS: That must have been interesting. EP: Yes. I was adjusting the patients, answering the phones, booking the appointments, filling out the insurance forms, stamping the envelopes, and chasing the postman. This lasted for about an hour. [laughter] I realized that I needed some new staff, so I hired a firm to help me do the hiring. We set all the interviews for one day and in they came. Young, old, tall, short, experienced, inexperienced, and finally this one woman who was a physical and audible incarnation of Fran Dresher’s character, the nanny. Everyone quickly huddled behind me and said, “Whatever you do, do not hire this woman,” and of course I had to have her. GS: Of course you did. EP: There is something about having such a personality answering the phone and behind the desk that is priceless. If nothing else, it entertained me. Apparently it was only me who was entertained, because she was doing little things I didn’t realize at the time that were not endearing her to the patientssuch as borrowing money from them. Anyway, you don’t know why people come in your life at the time that they do ... Not long into her working at the office, she said to me in that lovely “nanny” tone of voice, “You know, Dr. Pearl, you’ve been under so much stress personally and with the business, hiring new people, you need to take a day off and go to the beach.” If I knew her better at the time, I would have realized it was her saying to me, “I don’t want to come into work today. I want to take the day off and go to the beach, and I don’t want to spend my own money.” So we drove to the beach. While we were there, she wandered off a little bit and then came back and said that she’d found a woman reading cards, and that I needed to get my cards read by her. She pushed and pushed, so I went to this woman. Nothing really stands out from the reading, but she told me about some special work that she did and said that being a healer, I needed it. The woman explained that the meridians in our bodies were at one time much more powerful than they are today, because they extended off of our bodies and continued out to the stars and planets and the universe, tying us in to this entire huge system. Then at some point in time, we became disconnected from this. It sounded intriguing. She said that we’ve come to a point in time when we can reconnect to the system. The work that she did was bringing in, what are termed “new axiotonal lines,” like a giant spiritual broadband hook up. I thought that this sounded interesting and I asked her how much the work is. She said it was $330 and I said, “No thanks.” I could picture lots of things, especially my name on the news, you know, “Los Angeles chiropractor suckered by gypsy fortune tellerfilm at eleven.” So I thanked her and started to leave. She scribbled something down on a piece of paper and said I could read about this in a book called The Book of Knowledge: The Keys of Enoch. GS: I’ve seen that, but never looked into it. EP: I kept thinking about it and thinking about it, and I finally took an extra ten minutes from lunch to run in and quickly skim through those eight little pages. Well, there are two things that you can’t do with that bookskim through it or read it. There are actually three thingsor understand it. I picked it up. I didn’t understand part of it. I understood the next little part of it. So, I went back to the first part which made sense, but then the second part, that I had understood, didn’t make sense. It just kept pushing my brain around in circles. I left. I came back in another day to try it again. That didn’t work. I went back a little later and that didn’t work. Finally, I thought it would be cheaper if I let the woman do the work on me. So I went in to let her do these two visits with me. I didn’t think that anything at all had happened. But when I got home that night, I went to sleep and about an hour later my lamp turned itself on. I’d had that lamp for ten years and it hadn’t selected any other occasions to self-ignite, but there it was. I figured maybe it was a short or some other electrical phenomenon. But simultaneously I was a little more surprised, or shocked, because my attention went to the fact that I knewdon’t ask me how I knew, because I was in the bedroom with my door closedthat somebody was in my house who wasn’t there when I went to sleep. So I got up very bravely with a can of pepper spray, and my Doberman, and went hunting. After about twenty minutes, I realized there was someone there, but I also knew that I could never find them, even if I looked all night, and I’d be a wreck for my patients if I didn’t go back to sleep. I went into work on Monday. Again, it was my twelfth year in practice, but seven different patients told me that day that they felt someone in the room with us, just the way that I had felt someone in my home. Other patients were telling me that they could feel my hands before I touched them. I’m thinking, “Oh yeah, sure you can.” I asked them to close their eyes and I held my hands near them on different areas, and they could tell me if they were near the right shoulder or left ankle, for example. After I would adjust people, I would hold my hands near them, or just stand where I was, and tell them to relax for a minute or so to allow the adjustment to set into place. When they’d open their eyes, they’d say to me, “I know you were standing by my head, but I felt both of your hands on my feet, and I felt another hand on my forehead. I know you don’t have three hands.” All of these things started happening. Patients started talking about feeling people in the room and seeing colors they never saw before. Some of them were seeing angels or entities, or beings. I just refer to them generally as people we don’t see in the flesh in this dimension. But my patients were seeing them and having communications with them. I mean, hearing them give them messages, saying things to them. Telling them their namesand they aren’t names that we would recognize like Michael, or Gabriel. For example, one woman’s name was Parcilia. After a while, although I felt more than left out because I didn’t see them, I just realized that something really was going on with some other dimension. Even though I wasn’t consciously able to participate in it, I was at least able to recognize the fullness of it. So I kept doing what I was doing and feeling things in my hands. When I would hold my hands by people, the muscles in their face or body would begin to move involuntarily. Then a woman came in who was in a car accident. An orthopedic doctor had sent her in. I’d been working with her for about a week and a half. She was making good progress from her injuries. But she came in on this one day and her knee was bothering her, which wasn’t injured in the car accident. It was a degenerative bone disease that she’d had since she was a very young girl of seven years old. She was in her forties at that time when I was seeing her. When it would act up, nothing seemed to get rid of it, and nothing I did seemed to get rid of it either. Massage didn’t, physical therapy didn’t, adjusting the joint didn’t. So finally, out of not knowing what else to do, I told her to just close her eyes “to let everything settle into place for a minute or so before you go.” When her eyes were closed, I brought my hand down over her knee. I only wanted to do it when her eyes were closed because I didn’t want her to run back to her physical therapist and tell him that I was putting my hands there like an idiot. So I did that for a minute or two and felt some intense warmth. I didn’t really notice much of anything else, and so I stopped after a minute or so. I let her know that we were finished. She opened her eyes and said that her pain was gone. That didn’t totally surprise me because that type of thing had been going on at that point for a month or three. But when we walked out to the front, my little “nanny” character receptionist started pointing to my hand and making those lovely “nanny” voice soundsthat little screeching sound. She said, “Look, look at your hand.” I looked down and my palm was covered with tiny little millimeter-sized blisters. I don’t know how many, maybe 75 or 150 shot across my palm. Instead of lasting like blisters usually last, usually about five days or so, they were gone in less than three hours. This happened on more than one occasion. One other time, and I know how strange this sounds, I really do, my palm bled. Not like stigmata, but more like if you took a pin or needle and accidentally stuck your palm. Not enough blood to actually go anywhere, but there it was. As this was going on, I kept calling the card reader woman back to find out what the heck was happening. She gave me a couple of new age platitudes, but didn’t have any more answers and turned me on to the person who taught her how to do this work. GS: Did you get any answers from her? EP: No. This other woman, who taught the card reader who worked on me, and taught everyone else how to do it, is the one who supposedly channeled in the actual lines you’re supposed to use. I spoke with her and explained what was going on, but no one had any answers. Essentially what seemed to come from the communications was that what she had done, really, was sort of like channeling in a key. Teaching others was analogous to making duplicates of the key, and saying to keep trying doors because somewhere there is a lock that the key is supposed to open. Once that key fit, it opened up to bring through a new level of healing. So far the researchers who study all forms of healing techniques, energy healings and other such healings, haven’t been able to find anything else similar to this work. In other words, no one had this experience before me or after me. It’s sort of like, once the key unlocked the door, it had served its purpose. GS: What have you learned about it since then? EP: I had a guy come in shortly after who had a birth-deformed leg. His right hip and leg were pulled up about four inches higher than his left. His right foot had to rotate in and rest on his left. In essence, he had only one leg and had to lean forward at about a 30-degree angle. To take a step he’d have to kick one foot out from other the other and swing the other back onto it again. He had had all of his surgeries by the age of twelve, and he was told that he was going to end up in a wheelchair. But he came in for an adjustment. I did the adjustment and told him to close his eyes and relax and I held my hands by him and his foot started to move up and down like a pumping motion, like an accelerator of a car. While it did that, it began to rotate inward and outward a few times. It ended up ultimately, during that one visit, in a normal position where he stood up for the first time in his twenty-six years with two independent legs, six feet tall, with only the tiniest residual trace of a limp. So with these things starting to happen, people were getting up out of wheelchairs. Not all of them, but some of them. People were coming in saying, “What did you do?” “My hearing has come back!” “My vision ...,” and “What’s happening?” I would say, “Nothing, and don’t tell anyone.” That went over real big and people started coming in from everywhere going, “I’ll have what she had.” As soon as word got out, people started suggesting that I teach it. My initial response was I can’t teach it because I don’t even know what it is. No one left me a book of instructions. But more and more people, after they would have sessions at the office, would get home and call me up and say that when they walked into their house their lamp, television, or stereo started turning itself on and off. They felt sensations coming through their hands and so they’d hold their hands by someone in their family ... and the grandfather who had the stroke was able to speak again, and the grandmother could walk once more. We realized that people were becoming ignited or attuned, somehow gifted with this ability once they interacted with it. So as that happened, I agreed to talk about it a little bit. I started with a small group of people in Los Angeles at a place called The Learning Annex. They set up an evening and I spoke with twenty-five people and told them the story and let them feel it. I showed them a little bit about how to use it, and I released them onto an unsuspecting planet. And I got phone calls, lots of phone calls. As word got out, people said, “Teach it here, teach it here, and teach it here.” So I started to, and the next thing I know, I was getting calls from hospitals and universities trying to figure out what was going on. I remember going down to the University of Miami, which was one of the first places where they started doing some research, and presenting at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Then, not too long into it, Andrew Weil invited me to speak to a group of his interns at the University of Arizona. While I was there, the head of research came down and saw what was happening and listened to the presentation and decided to do some research with me. They invited me to come back out to Tucson, and the concept was for me to teach a seminar. They took the people who were scheduled to attend the seminar and did research on a number of them. Brought them into the laboratories and did all sorts of research and measurements and things. I’m not sure of all of them, but I know they did brainwaves and heart waves. They tested their ability to influence objects at a distance. GS: So they were looking for some sort of predisposition to be able to do it. EP: Not only that, but looking also for where they were already, as a baseline before they interacted with these frequencies. You know, gamma ray radiation and natural things off of the body. Anyway, they did all that and brought me down. Then I gave the seminar. I talked about what it was, I let people feel it. Once you feel it, you begin to carry it. I showed them how to use it. Then I left and they retested the people. They got a lot of definitive, consistent changes in them. It seems to change who you are once you carry this. Now, the researchers that I’ve spoken with, a number of them, tend to feel that these frequencies ... well, what they first started to say is that they’re new. Now actually, I wouldn’t buy into the concept that they’re new. What they really mean is that they’re new here in the planet. You know, everything is of the universe and I believe that it’s been around forever. But it’s the first time that they’re here on the planet. GS: I was wondering, if these are new, why do you call the work reconnection? EP: Because, as I said, they are new to the planet. I’ve trained close to 24,000 practitioners internationally and all I can do is talk of concept or theory. The way it was explained, the separation or dis-connection, if you want to use such a word, which I don’t usually, is referenced by the woman who told me, as occurring somewhere the time of the Garden of Eden. Which made it sound very religious, Judeo-Christian in its background, which didn’t really excite me because I didn’t want to buy into a religious concept. But then, as I’ve looked into this, you do find that most cultures and religions talk about a time when humanity separated from the universe, and often talk about our struggle, or purpose, of becoming one with the universe in its highest fullness once again, coming through our lessons and experiences. So it’s not a concept that you need to adhere to one religion or thought process. GS: Well, three-dimensional rationality went out the window when the light turned itself on. EP: Maybe. It’s not like we’ve never walked in somewhere and seen a light turn itself on. GS: Right, but this was a significant occurrence for you. EP: Let me put it to you this way, I’m not getting rid of that lamp. It’s one of my little memories. So what’s happening is, the concept of re-connecting is not about whether this level of healing frequency has been here before, it’s about re-connecting to our original fullness of the universe, and our striving to do that while still in human form. GS: Are you training people to do it, or just exposing them to it? EP: It works like this. You can’t teach people to heal. Healing is a gift. But you can give them that gift and teach them how to use it. It’s sort of like you can give a toddler in a high-chair an eating utensil. You do have to take the time to teach him or her that it’s not a shovel and it’s not a sling-shot, and then which way to hold the spoon so you can balance it. Then how to coordinate it with another eating utensil, and then to do it in a way that looks socially acceptable according to rules of etiquette. GS: Not get it on your shirt. EP: Right, not get it on their shirt, and not get it on your shirt as well. So what happens is that once you interact with these frequencies, you have to interact with them. Usually what happens in the seminars is that I’ll do a Friday night presentation where I will demonstrate the work. We’ll bring up volunteers from the audience and do demonstrations of the healing so you can see the involuntary movements that people begin to undergo once they interact with these frequencies. The initial set of registers are usually an involuntary movement of the eyes and then increased swallowing and an altered sort of breathing. Then the secondary becomes involuntary movements of fingers, feet, arms, legs, torso, so you can see how the body registers when it interacts with these frequencies. We talk much more about the research, about the background of how this came into being. We do Q&A. We bring people up also with specific health problems, to demonstrate the healings. Everyone has to know that there are no promises and guarantees. But usually it becomes quite a fascinating presentation because you get to see the reality of it. That’s pretty much the purpose of Friday night and it’s open to the public. Friday is usually a $39 event. I’ll be happy to give it to your readers for free and they can bring their friends. But they will need to call the toll-free number to the office [888-374-2732] and let us know that they’re coming and how many people they’re bringing, so we can moderate the size of the room. If they show up without calling, there is a chance they might not get in. Saturday and Sunday is when we actually teach the work. We set it up where we have approximately one massage table for every four people. I demonstrate something in front of the room and we all move to the massage tables and work in groups of two or four, depending on what we’re learning at the time. I move through the room and make adjustments, corrections, suggestions to people. You get to see how, when you hold your hand a certain way, a person’s body responds one way, and when you move your hand or body another way, the person on the table begins to move in another fashion. They don’t see that you’ve changed the way that you’re doing it, because you are standing behind them and their eyes are closed. But they know it. GS: Would you say that you’re basically letting the energy flow through you? EP: You could say it that way, but we don’t have to do the things we used to. You become a catalyst for the energy. Your presence alters it and yet the only thing that you are doing, if you are doing anything, is being. The only thing that is happening is that you’re simply being. You’re listening with a different sense. You’re listening with a physical sense of your body. In that listening, in that “being with” this, it simply changes. Once you carry the fullness of these frequencies, you no longer have the limitations that you used to. The frailties and limitations of healing techniques are gone. You don’t have to take off your jewelry. You can do this through a lead wall if you want to. You don’t have to move your hands in a clockwise circle. You don’t have to sage the room. You don’t have to do anything because you already are. What happens in the shortest, cleanest version is that you begin to vibrate at the level of lightthe Light. And when we remember and exist and move at the level of light, our essence reminds others that they are light, and they vibrate at that level, too. Anything denser than light, any of their health challenges that are appropriate for them to leave, fall off because there is nothing left for them to hold on to. Healing is about that simple. Don’t be taken in by anyone who walks around in a fairy dress with tulip sleeves and a magic wand. GS: You don’t do that? EP: Only on Thursdays. [Laughter] EP: The concept here is that we get to wear our blue jeans and our baseball caps, and we get to go to the football game and watch a movie and have a real life. You don’t have to do rituals and prayers before you put on your blue jeans. This is really here, and you don’t have to do anything for it. A lot of us just want this breath of fresh air. I thank God we’ve been given it. Dr. Eric Pearl will be at Sacred Paths in Worth, Illinois, for a lecture and booksigning on Tuesday , May 3 at 7pm; at Transitions Bookplace in Chicago for a booksigning on Wednesday, May 4 at 7pm; and will present Level I/II Reconnective Healing Seminar at the Renaissance Chicago North Shore Hotel in Skokie, Illinois, on May 6-8.
