Return to This Month's Index

Dear Louise,

I’m in a black hole of despair, and every time I find myself pulling out of it, someone pushes me right back to the bottom. I have an overbearing husband (he’s 64 years old) who tells me when I can go out, who often berates me for being stupid, and doesn’t talk to me for days if he can’t have everything his way. We haven’t shared a bedroom for more than ten years.

I continually cry; and suffer from depression, headaches, and back pain. Is there any way to improve my way of living or must I just suffer forever? Can you help me?

— B.C., Sydney, Australia

Dear B.C.,

You must have read some of my books or else you wouldn’t have written to me. Have you done any of my exercises? We have to improve your way of thinking before we can improve your way of living. Your husband may not be supportive of you, but you’re the only one who thinks in your mind. You’re choosing thoughts that cause your suffering. Change your thinking and you will change your life.

Below are some affirmations for you to do. Repeat them many times a day. Repetition will make them true for you. When you really do this, there will be big, positive changes within a month. Blessings to you!

“I am free in my mind. I think thoughts that make me feel good. I know I can make positive changes in my life. I now create a life of my own. Life loves me and brings new and positive experiences into my life. It is safe for me to love myself. All is well in my world.”

Dear Louise,

I was just told by my doctor that I have something called Candida. This was news to me! I’ve never even heard of it. Do you have any suggestions for how to heal this condition? Thank you so much.

— A.G., Vancouver, B.C.

Dear A.G.,

Candida is a very common condition but rarely diagnosed properly by medical doctors. Women who take antibiotics and eat lots of sugar often have this condition. If you want a lot of good information about healing this problem, get the book The Body Ecology by Donna Gates. You can also go to a good nutritionist and have an eating plan created just for you. Candidia is easily healed if you will follow the dietary suggestions.

Affirm: “I lovingly help heal my body by choosing foods that are best for my special body. Perfect health and wholeness are mine. All is well in my world.”

Dear Louise,

I’ve heard your You Can Heal Your Life audio book several times, and it has helped me enormously. I’m a struggling actor in London and have been told I have ADD (attention deficit disorder). I’ve taken drugs but have had no success. I’m not focused and have a poor attention span. You inspire me immensely, and I would dearly love some advice, help, guidance, and a plan. Thank you.

— K.C., London, England

Dear K.C.,

The advice I gave to the person in the above letter would also apply to your condition. Dietary changes and going to a homeopathic physician could make a big difference in your health. Most of us don’t realize what damage we do to our bodies when we eat lots of sugar and processed foods. However, you’re not limited by anyone’s diagnosis, even your own. Stop saying, “I’m not focused and have poor attention.” That’s not an affirmation you want to use.

Now, for the next step. Take on the healing process of your body like you’d take on a new part in a play. Study your lines, research, and do exactly what the part tells you to do: rehearse, rehearse, and rehearse. In no time you’ll be the healthy actor you want to be.

Affirm: “I move beyond all limitations. I am far greater than I used to believe. I am at peace in my mind and in my body. My body knows how to heal itself, and I allow this to happen. New roles open for me. All is well in my body and in my world!”
