The Laws of Thinking: 20 Secrets to Using the
Divine Power of Your Mind to Manifest Prosperity

By Bishop E. Bernard Jordan

Know who you are and what you want to be. If you don’t know
what you want, you won’t have it.

The Law of the Journey

There are mysteries within mysteries within the Laws of Thinking and the system by which God operates. This is the study of years, which is why the prophets are so important. It takes a prophet to begin to make sense of all that is assaulting you from every side. That’s why as you learn, it is so vital for you to begin doing the basics you need to do to put God’s expression to work on your behalf: speak Words of creation and life, and prophesy until something happens. You come into this world pregnant with the Word and the possibility of creation, but you must push something out into the visible realm. It’s not easy (as any woman who has gone through childbirth can tell you) but you can’t get it any other way. You must take notice of where you are.

You must enhance your faculties of perception and know who you are and what you want to be. If you don’t know what you want, you won’t have it. The process we are all called to follow requires us to exercise control and then give it up: to begin manifesting, we must control our minds and come to a conclusion: “I Am this thing, this goal, this desire.” Then once we know that, we must cede control to God and say, “I trust you, Lord, and I will act without concern for money or risk and let You work your will.” All the while, we must control our words and thoughts so we do not torpedo our boat before it’s launched. That is a difficult balancing act, and learning the skill to master it takes decades. That is why you rarely see successful people in their twenties; they’re still making their mistakes and tripping over their own words.

Give Up Your Mind

In the end, you must be willing to give up your mind—the intellect part of you that tries to direct the show—so a greater mind can take over. John the Baptist symbolizes this; he had to be beheaded to be resurrected with the mind of Christ. The key to Man is his thoughts. You are your thoughts. The mind of Man is the mouth of God. God created you as a conduit for His Word on this plane. If you recall, we said earlier that God has no presence on this plane without you. He can only manifest Creation—Creation can only reach its fruition—with you acting under the guidance of God. God does not want to pull your strings like a puppet, but to channel His Word through you and let you shape the ends. With that kind of energy working through your mind and Spirit, you cannot help but do great things. But first, you have to get ego and self-importance out of the way!

Your Diamonds Are Waiting to Be Dug Up

Everything that Man needs, everything you need to fulfill your destiny, already exists in the Universal Mind that is God. It is as if the prosperity and greatness you wish for yourself is buried in the earth as diamonds. No man created the diamonds that end up on an engagement ring; they were created by natural processes that God set in motion and endowed with Spirit, and they lay hidden until some miner dug them up. In exactly the same way, everything you desire is waiting, hidden, already fully formed, waiting for you to discover it, dig it up, and polish it to perfection. Everyone is fulfilling a path in earth, a path ordained by God. You are already fully formed as who you will be in your own “I Am” consciousness; you just have to surrender your doubtful intellect, say “I Am that experience,” and use the power of the Word to bring those things to yourself. What you want to become is sleeping in you. You must transform your mind to awaken it. Talents that you possess, ideas you will one day bring to fruition—they all lie dormant in your Spirit right now, at this very moment! That’s exciting—the potential to change your own life is within you even as you read this book. But you must act and transform your thought processes in order to take that potential energy and turn it into kinetic energy that creates change. I’ll bet you didn’t realize that the forces you need to bring yourself closer to the life you have imagined were so close at hand. Most people do not. They are busy looking outward for those forces, when they should be looking inward at the diamonds that God placed in them at the Creation.

Patience, Grasshopper

Once you do reach that level of mental awareness where you can become the Word and open the gates for God to create in Spirit, you may think that’s the end of the process. All you have to do now it sit back and catch all the good things as they arrive, right? Wrong. God never makes it that easy. He vows to bring you manifestation, but he does not say when. Usually, manifestation comes long after the decision is made. During the long gestation period, the thing you want is going to ask you every day, “Are you sure you want me?” That’s why patience and persistence of effort and focus are so important. The blessing will come in its own good time. Once you declare your “I Am” and open to the Word, God will bring it to you. But the timing is not in your control. God will test your faith and focus even while He is slowly assembling what you want in the spiritual realm. All the new surprises that come along while you’re waiting for what you want to manifest are tests of your faith. A little bit of doubt can drive what you are becoming from your mind, and therefore, from your life. You will always be tested, because God only shows favor to those who endure. This is why it is essential to have the capacity of being. Rather than worrying about what you can do, focus on who you are. You are the thing you want! How strongly you declare that you are that experience will pull the people you need to make happen what you want to make happen. Your “I Am” creates the allies you need to manifest what you want. Be; don’t worry about what you can do.

The Sin of the Prodigal Son

When you begin to tap the power of your own Divine Mind, you connect yourself to God’s economy, the cosmic system of payment and receipt that governs all things. This is where all children must be, interwoven with their father’s economy and earning what enables them to create change. When you achieve wealth, but let that wealth become the most important thing to you, you are in sin. The sin of the prodigal son was becoming separate from his father’s economy. God doesn’t care that you’re wealthy, but that your wealth does not become the source of all things for you. God must always be the source of what you need. If you are looking outside yourself for your dreams, you will never find them. They are inside you. They are you. But even if you do separate yourself from God in this way, He will not correct you. God likes hard lessons, because He knows that we, His willful children, seldom learn from any other kind of experiences. God is not interested in becoming the savior of His children. You should never become the savior for your children. You are their teacher, but they must act of their own will and their own mind. God did not save creation, but sent His Son and let His Son save creation of his will. When the prodigal son wanted to play the fool, his father allowed him. The father allowed him to have the experience, because it was the only way he would learn. You will only be saved when you come to yourself and realize that God knows more than you do. That is why the tough lessons and hard knocks of life exist: to teach you.

Stay Hungry

Most of us have to reject God and experience the want that rejection creates before we understand the hunger that makes us crave being with God. You will think you have all the answers; we all do. You will be lost in some way. You may hit bottom and be in despair. Only then will you make the decision to seek out God, to seek answers and discover the aspect of God within you. As a parent, you must turn your child loose to reach a place of waste. Only when you are perishing with hunger will you be as a child, seeking the wisdom of the Universal Mind. That remains the hardest decision any parent must face: to let his or her child suffer and fail, knowing that while a word of wisdom might set the child on the right track, wisdom that does not come from within is as temporary as rain puddles in the sunshine. Truly loving parents endure and let their children struggle and scrape to find their way, because they know that is the only way one gains true wisdom and the desire to turn inward. God does the same with all of us.

That’s the journey we all face—go out, discover, become lost, suffer, have a crisis, hunger, repent and gain hard wisdom, seek answers, grow, come to understanding. We all have a crucible. We all must conquer our fear. This is why you must always have new goals; you can never come to rest. Being static is the one sure way to dry up all the blessings God brings you; playing it safe is the sure way to bring on disaster. Nothing in nature is static, and neither should you be. You must remain hungry, keep striving, keep becoming.
