The Great Reality

The Greater Reality

Following my December column on the continuity of life, I received an interesting email referring me to a website called The Greater Reality (http://greaterreality.com). I checked it out and now I want to share this adventure with you. I’ll only give you a taste of that adventure and invite you to go to this excellent site and begin your own exploration.

The homepage of The Greater Reality’s site states:

“This Web site is dedicated to helping people know that we live within a greater reality, that we are spiritual beings having the physical experience portion of our eternal lives, and that humanity can live in harmony and peace if every person knows the fact that there is no death. Knowing that truth will allow humankind to have great regard, acceptance, and love for all others in all nations with all beliefs.”

Well, I don’t know if knowing the truth about life after death will actually fulfill that lofty goal. I remember an excerpt from one of reincarnation researcher Ian Stevenson’s books. Early in his research career, Stevenson made a comment to one of his Indian colleagues about the idea that belief in reincarnation should make people more compassionate in their earth lives. The Indian colleague pointed out that those who believed in reincarnation had no better a track record in that regard than those who don’t.

Having said that, however, I do believe that, while belief in the greater reality of an afterlife is not the whole answer, it can greatly contribute to that goal of harmony and peace. And this site, with its comprehensive information, can also contribute to that goal.

The Greater Reality site contains descriptions of the research of renowned scholars on topics like time, space, death, and lack of separation. For example, click on the “There is no Time” link and read about the replication studies by the PEAR (Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research Program) Group at Princeton University and the studies of precognition at Boeing Research Laboratories University. The “There is no Separation” section features research on telepathy. One of the research items, “Psychotherapists experience patients’ mental imaging,” gives an overview of the work of Dr. Allan Botkin and twenty other psychotherapists who have been using a technique called EMDR to help patients, especially combat veterans, overcome post-traumatic stress syndrome. Dr. Botkin discovered that he could help patients become receptive to receiving healing messages from the subconscious in a process he calls IADC (induced after-death communication).

Remote Viewing

The “There is no Space” section focuses on remote viewing experiments and contains a number of interesting side-by-sides of the target and the pictures/descriptions supplied by remote viewers. In fact, remote viewing is such a big focus of The Greater Reality site that visitors can participate in a remote viewing test. Access the test via the home page. Click on the remote viewing test link and follow instructions like this:

Your Remote Viewing Ability: One of the ways you can experience the Greater Reality is through remote viewing, a form of psychic ability very common among people. Remote viewers “see” objects and scenes hundreds or thousands of miles away by closing their eyes and focusing on the object or place ...

Step 1: Make Your Mind an Empty Rice Bowl: The first step in this testing process is for you to learn how to make your mind into an empty rice bowl. That means you need to empty your mind of as much of the thoughts, images, and awarenesses that are normally part of your consciousness as you possibly can ...

Step 2: Learn to Keep Your Imagination Quiet: Your imagination will try to put images into that black window ... When you do receive remote viewing signals, avoid trying to identify something or letting your imagination fill in the blanks to make something identifiable out of the impressions you have ...

Step 3: Remote View the Targets: You will be presented the target identifiers one at a time. Each is associated with a photograph that is very distinctive. Focus on color, temperature, touch, and texture. There are ten targets in the test. View at least five of them ...

Books on the Afterlife

Another interesting part of this site is the fact that you can download a PDF copy of Your Eternal Self, a 272-page book by Dr. Craig Hogan, the creator of The Greater Reality site. The book, published in 2008, contains chapter titles like: “Evidence We Know Information Without Using the Brain,” “Minds are Linked Outside of the Brain,” “Spirituality Is Who You Are, Not What You Do,” and “What Are the Facts About the Afterlife.” I haven’t read it yet, but I’ve downloaded it and plan to.

Another book featured at the site is a work in progress. Josie Varga is writing a book titled Visits from Heaven in which she describes after-death communication experiences people have had that provide information the experiencer couldn’t know to be true at the time of the visit, but later is found to be true. According to Josie, she had one of those experiences herself when she received a dream communication from a friend, Rich, who died on 9/11, 2001. In that communication, Jose saw Rich standing behind his wife and son, who were still alive, and saying clearly, “ Boston is O.K.” Josie woke up and felt that she had to get this message to Rich’s wife. The message turned out to be accurate. Rich’s wife was considering selling her home and moving to Boston where her brother lived. She was, however, feeling guilty because she and Rich had purchased their current home shortly before his death. Now, Rich was telling her it was O.K. to move.

This communication spurred Josie to collect other after-death communication examples to include in a book. If you’ve had one of those verifiable experiences, Josie would like to hear from you. You can contact her at josievarga@comcast.net or by visiting her website at www.josievarga.com.

My overall advice to my readers is to explore The Greater Reality site. I also have a recommendation for Dr. Craig Hogan. One of the things I noticed is that a lot of the research information at the site is from the 1990s. I recommend that Dr. Hogan check out the latest research information available at sites like www.noetic.org ( Institute of Noetic Sciences ) and www.iands.org (International Association for Near Death Studies). In fact, here’s a thought. After you explore The Greater Reality site, expand your horizons even further with IONS and IANDS.
