Back in the day, late night TV host Arsenio Hall often featured a segment called “Things that make you go hmmmm.” A lot of folks I’m talking to recently are making that sound, in light of the current flood of movies and TV programs with interwoven themes.
Do you really think it’s just a coincidence that the ABC series V, 2012, the NBC/SyFy channel documentary on the science behind 2012 (airing November 8, 2009), the film The Fourth Kind, the book The Lost Symbol (Dan Brown’s latest best-selling thriller), and a slew of vampire movies are all coming out at the same time?
I was delighted to learn that Richard C. Hoagland was one of the consultants on the SyFy channel documentary. I have known Richard for about ten years,
and had the honor of interviewing him the other week for my Steven Halpern and Friends program which will be eventually posted on my website as a podcast.
Richard was the science advisor to Walter Cronkite during NASA’s Apollo mission to the moon, the author of the best-seller The Monuments of Mars and a recognized authority on these topics (visit his site at enterprisemission.com). While I'm at it, if you are intrigued by Dan Brown’s work, let me suggest that you check out some of his sources, including Jordan Maxwell and William Henry. Their scholarship and ability to connect the dots will change the way you think about many things.
Michael Jackson’s This Is It
I saw the movie the other night, and I was blown away. You’ll be blown away, too, at his genius, his artistry, but also, by the artistry and talent of the director, Kenny Ortega, the choreographer, dancers, singers, and the band. Especially the band. Especially the guitar player. More on her in a moment.
Although the footage came from rehearsals (and much of it from Michael’s personal archives), we get a good idea of what the concert event would have been. And it would have been spectacular. And at $35 million dollars, it was worth it. What we didn’t see were the three months of daily, six hours a day rehearsals to get to the finely-honed production we saw glimpses of.
