Winter is traditionally the season for staying indoors. Going inside, through meditation, prayer or other contemplative activities is a wonderful way to reorient oneself and prepare for the New Year in a higher state of balance, harmony and mind-body coherence. Why wait to begin to do so? Why not begin now? After all, this year is the beginning of a whole new decade.

It is also an excellent time to reflect on your life path up to this point, and envision how you would like to orchestrate the next decade and beyond. Of course, that assumes that Roland Emmerich’s catastrophic vision of 2012 is as off the mark as most spiritual and scientific authorities believe.

Knowing what we now know about the power of intention, it certainly makes sense to harness the power of intention in our own lives to align ourself with our highest good. It may not even be necessary, according to some authors, to specify exactly what that is. God/guardian angels/ guides/higher self (take your pick) are waiting to be invited to assist each of us.

Most everyone can find at least a few minutes out of the 1440 minutes in the day to invest in one’s own well-being. (As one of my teachers liked to say, if you can't find a few minutes, then you really need to evaluate your life and get some professional help.) Because I come from the “in a New York minute” school of affirmations

and visualizations, I have learned to get into “the zone” in a matter of seconds, which enables me to make the most of my one minute meditations.

I’ve shared many techniques over the years, but the essential secret here is: take a deep breath, and hit the play button on your sound system of choice to amplify the entrainment process, and increase brain coherence.

The key, of course, is to choose music that works as fast as that first deep breath. In 1969, when I was initiated into what I have always considered to be my ministry of healing music, I received an “audio vision” of what the music sounded like. It sounded like the music that was later recorded as Chakra Suite.
