Master Co discusses the healing power available through Pranic Healing.

Your Hands Can Heal You

Guy Spiro: How did you come to be a pranic healer?

Master Co: In 1988 my wife fell fourteen feet and broke her hip bone. It was a compound fracture and the doctors said it would be 3 and a half months before she could even put weight on it. Out of desperation, I decided to look for something to speed up the process. I found this Pranic Healing class, the same class that I’m now teaching. I was very hesitant to take the class because of my background. I’m an electrical computer engineer by trade and was a very strict Southern Baptist by religion. Put those things together and you have some idea what kind of thought process I had regarding energy work. But all I cared about was healing that hip.

So I went in and didn’t feel a single thing while everyone else began feeling all the energy, the prana. But I said to myself, I’ll just learn what I need to learn and hopefully this will do something. So I diligently worked on her three times a day, and in five weeks she was running. Every time we went to the orthopedic surgeon he would say that the calcification is accelerated, more than normal. From there I decided to try it on other people. Bear in mind that the whole time this was going on, I didn’t feel a single thing. I just followed the systematic approaches and techniques for each disorder or ailment I was working on. I worked on friends, relatives and loved ones.

Ultimately we were sent here by the originator. Grand Master Choa Kok Sui from the Philippines sent us over here to the United States to start teaching all over the country. That’s how we got started. I never thought I’d be doing this. Since then, we’ve taught classes in many different states. We’ve taught in hospitals — I’ve given talks at Cedar Sinai Medical Center — so it seems like a lot of people, especially the medical community, are starting to be open to these things.

GS: That’s a big change from not too long ago.

MC: Since I was so skeptical and so analytical about everything, when I accepted this I was able to translate the information into a language that everyday people can understand without being too mystical and “out there.” When you talk to medical staff, that’s the way you have to talk, or they will discount you right away.

GS: Describe the technique and the process.

MC: Pranic healing comes from the word Prana, which most people know as the Chinese word chi, or life force. The whole idea is that the body needs to use chi or prana to heal itself. The body knows how to heal itself, but in order to accelerate the process or maintain its good health, it needs this prana or life force as a fuel to do that. So what Pranic healing does is to give the body the necessary type of energy to do that healing function.

What makes pranic healing different from other modalities is that it focuses on two main techniques. The first technique is what you call cleansing. The second technique is energizing. In cleansing we spend anywhere from 60-75% of the time removing the blockages through very gentle sweeping methods; this removes the blockages of the body so the fresh prana can go in. Then, to speed up the healing so it works even faster, practitioners do special breathing exercises to pull different kinds of energy into our bodies, and focus it like a lens to specific parts of the subject’s body. That, essentially, is what pranic healing is.

We have a step by step cookbook approach to work on individual ailments. Many years ago my teacher noticed, through many years of experience and experiments, that you cannot have one technique for everything. Different ailments affect different organs, and different energy centers are affected. What came out of that is a recipe or a protocol for each individual ailment or disorder. That beautiful discovery allows people like me, who may not have any background in healing and are really not that sensitive, to be able to take something like a cookbook or a recipe step-by-step approach to doing it, and allow us to learn how to heal.

GS: Using this approach, you would say that anyone can do it.

MC: If they can understand instructions and follow them thoroughly, they can do it.

GS: Without having any metaphysical leanings. Do you still identify yourself as a Southern Baptist?

MC: It’s kind of hard to keep doing that with this work. I mean, there are fundamental truths that are universal, but I’ve kind of opened up my horizons since then.

GS: I was raised in a church “right down the street” from the Southern Baptists, so I can relate. How does one concentrate the prana to transmit it?

MC: It’s very easy. You have to know that we have chakras, or energy wheels. The way we pull in energy through our bodies is through the chakras. In pranic healing we use eleven major chakras, not just seven. Specific ones are used to pull in spiritual energy, like the crown and the throat chakras are used to pull in air prana, and the basic or the tailbone energy center is used to pull in ground energy. By simply focusing on the source energy center, with proper deep abdominal breathing you literally pump energy into your body and pump it out of your hands, aiming wherever you want. The beauty of this whole thing is that you don’t need to have any special initiation. You don’t need to practice healing for twenty years. You can do it on the spot, and in less than two hours people can project energy without depleting themselves.

GS: Where are the other four chakras? You can assume that most of our readers know about the basic seven.

MC: One of them that most people don’t know about is on the forehead between the crown and the brow center; that controls your nervous system and your memory. Another is behind the belly button, which is called the gate of life, and which acupuncturists know controls your blood pressure.

GS: Called the Kath by some people. What more would you like to communicate to our readers?

MC: People have the ability to heal. It’s very simple. It’s a matter of learning the techniques. In our book, Your Hands Can Heal You, Dr. Robbins, who is a medical doctor, and I worked together to present this healing technique in such a way that everyday people can learn how to heal and improve their health, and that of the people around them. The problem is that a lot of the people that come to see me have a mentality of “come fix me.” They don’t realize that it’s their body, their health, and they need to take responsibility for it — not only in diet and exercise, but also in the movement of energy in the body, which affects their thoughts, their emotions and their meditational practices.

GS: Is there a sort of basic meditative practice that you teach?

MC: Yes, it’s called the Meditation on Twin Hearts. It’s our base line meditation. What it does is open the heart and crown chakras through simple breathing and meditation practices. A tremendous amount of energy pours down into the aura and most people will feel an almost instant inner peace, within ten minutes. When they raise their hands to heal people, they can feel a river of energy flowing through them. Once those chakras are open, without working too hard, anyone can learn how to heal easily.

We believe that people have the ability to heal themselves and anyone else. They just have to learn how. We all have to realize that we are part of a bigger whole. As we learn how to heal ourselves and the people around us, we also learn how to heal humanity as a whole with our thoughts, our emotions, our prayers and meditational practices.
